Attack of The Estrogen

Ya know, I've been meaning to do this very disgustingly pink post on music...that made a difference. Makes a difference. Reminds me of people. Events. Situations, circumsta- my point's been made.

I can't even think of a good enough way to introduce it and all that. And plus this is a LAME post, so don't say you haven't been warned. Sooo without further ado (D'ye say it as a-doe, or a-doo? As in, rhyming with poo?)

  • For Reasons Unknown- The Killers. First on my list just because it was convenient(Ahem, Angeeda. DO not read into it.). Dedicated especially to my Flavour of the Summer (I really get a kick out of saying that, don't ask me why) MSF loved The Killers. Possibly still does. He liked shitty music. I have, do, and will always hate them, stupid lameass band with a lameass singer whose voice is more monotonous than that dude from Poets of the Fall. And his voice is pretty crap- I didn't notice this until someone mentioned it *cue glass shattering* (think HIMYM.) Buut I digress. It's funny y'know, I always thought listening to this song would make me feel like shit but...it's strangely nice. Reminds me of what we had, in a it-was-good-while-it-lasted sort of way.

  • Girlshapedlovedrug- Gomez. This has Angeeda written aaaaaalll over it man, it really does. She messaged me in the middle of the night once (atleast, I think it was in the middle of the night...) saying "this is SO you." Heh. She throws compliments out like confetti, she takes more shit than anyone ever should and her life is a bloody SOAP OPERA man...but I tell youse truly, I'd die for the girl who showed me that patience and forgiveness can stretch on for miles and miles(there's an end to hers somewhere, but I haven't seen it yet, yay me )

  • Tragic Comic - Extreme. Hehehe, describes Jahangir so perfectly it's not even funny- The boy who's so inexperienced when it comes to wooing girls that he evens asks me for advice, his own baby sister :P "St-t-tuttering p-poet, just gonna be a tragic comic" - and still, the chicks dig 'im. He's got that whole cute-boy-next-door thing going for him, methinks. Similar to Swami, and Ted. (I just started watching season 4, I can't help the references!)

  • When I'm Sixty Four- The Beatles. Most Beatles tracks remind me of Neo. It does help that she and I were high on Beatlemania for the better part of last summer. We'd hang out and my place and listen to Abbey Road and then go to her place and sing along with the Beatles 1 CD on full blast- and finally, the 'dults didn't have issues with us blaring music all the bloody time :D And when we're sixty four I will still feed you, Neo, never fear :P

  • You Can't Always Get What You Want- Band From TV. Puts me in a happy place. They don't show House on TV anymore. Sigh. And yes, I do love House that much.

  • Nothing Else Matters - Metallica. Late mornings, a quilt that tucked around me just right, and the cleanest kitchen I can remember. The summer of '06 was cold, boring-and also spent in Russia. But them mornings- man oh man, I loved those, I really did. I'd wake up to this song and every day I'd see Jahangir pacing up and down the living room, alternating between air-drumming and guitaring. Ma'd be in the kitchen, making herself a cup of coffee, Dada would be on his way out in his white uniform. And it was always nice and toasty inside, no matter how miserable it looked out the window. Central Air Conditioning zindabaad.

  • Somewhere Only We Know- Keane. Pepper gave me this song the summer he left. Always makes me a little bit melancholy, mostly because for some strange reason I seem to remember him almost opening up to me before pulling his Houdini act. Stupid Pepper. You suck sometimes, ya know? But thank you. For being a friend. For teaching me that different doesn't always mean wrong. It's strange how you play such an important but somehow...distant role in this play.

  • Chasing Cars- Snow Patrol. Super Agony Aunt, Swami, Joompa...one nickname for every year, now that I notice...heh, funny. Somehow, it doesn't feel like this'll ever change. When I'm 25 (and OLD) and you're 30(and married :P), I'm still gonna call you and tell you "Dwed, you will not BELIEVE it- I totally seduced *insert boy's name here* at this insane party last night! It was awesome." and you're still gonna laugh and tell me "go you man, work those feminine wiles!" while strumming your guitar. I'm betting The Equilibrium Theory will still be alive then, too- 'cause the Oompa-Joompa Equation sure as hell will be. I love you man :D

  • Enchantment- Corinne Bailey Rae. Leo, Leo, Leo. Fuck. The ghost of your enchantment sometimes still haunts me.

  • My Happy Ending- Avril Lavigne. Ugh. Another boy, another story. About the same ending, though. 2005 was such a crap year. Stupid transitional period- Just hitting the teens, not to mention puberty...and ergo, the emergence of maajor mood swings, the beginnings of the goth phase, and also the year the rents shifted base to Russia. Without me though. Anyhow, it wasn't that bad really. I like how this song brings back the memories of exultation at hitting the Teen milestone. That was a surreal summer, it was.

Jeez. I'm tired now.

And hey, considering all the effort I put into this one, please be nice and comment. Contribute, and all that blogosphere-y crap.
